Upcoming: Acts of Kindness Hygiene Drive

The Mount Pleasant Acts of Kindness initiative is a two-part community campaign that brings people together to support neighbours in need through small, meaningful actions. This year, the campaign runs from February 1 to February 15 and focuses on collecting essential hygiene items that will be distributed through the MPCC Soup Kitchen to support local residents experiencing barriers to accessing basic necessities.

The first part of the campaign is the Donation Box Drive, taking place from February 1 to February 15. During this period, donation boxes will be placed at the Mount Pleasant Community Policing Centre office and at participating community partner businesses throughout the neighbourhood. Community members are encouraged to drop off new and unused hygiene items at any of these locations. This allows people to contribute at a time that is convenient for them while helping build momentum leading up to the main event. The donation box portion of the campaign makes it easy for individuals, families, workplaces, and businesses to take part in a shared effort of generosity and care.

The second part of the initiative is the Cake and Kindness Day Community Event on February 15, which serves as the culmination of the campaign. This in-person event will take place outside of Save-On-Foods at Kingsgate Mall from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Community members are invited to bring their donations directly to the event, meet volunteers, and take part in a positive, welcoming atmosphere focused on giving back. As a thank-you, attendees will receive a slice of cake in appreciation for their kindness and support. This event is designed to be both a celebration of community spirit and a final opportunity to contribute to the hygiene drive.

Together, these two components create a flexible and inclusive way for the community to participate. Those who are unable to attend the February 15 event can still contribute through the donation boxes, while those who prefer a more interactive experience can join us in person for Cake and Kindness Day. Both parts of the campaign play an equally important role in supporting our neighbours and strengthening connections within Mount Pleasant.

All donations collected through both the donation box drive and the February 15 community event will go directly to supporting neighbourhood residents in need through the MPCC Soup Kitchen. By taking part in either or both of these events, community members help ensure that essential hygiene items reach those who need them most, while also reinforcing the values of compassion, generosity, and shared responsibility that define our community.
