This event will happen at Kingsgate Mall on Jan 23rd from 1-5pm
Construction Safety:
The Construction Safety program is focused on helping residents stay informed and safe while living, working, and moving through neighbourhoods with active construction sites. With ongoing development across Mount Pleasant, it is important that community members understand how to navigate these spaces safely and know what to watch for around heavy equipment, road closures, temporary walkways, and changing traffic patterns.
Through this initiative, the MPCPC provides education and guidance on how to safely walk, cycle, and drive near construction zones, how to recognize potential hazards, and how to respond if something feels unsafe. We share practical tips on situational awareness, personal safety, and how to report concerns such as unsecured sites, blocked sidewalks, or unsafe conditions.
Resource and Info:
Resource distribution is a key part of how we support individuals facing barriers to accessing essential services. Through our outreach and events, we provide information and referrals related to housing support, food programs, health services, harm reduction supplies, and crisis supports. When appropriate, we also distribute physical resources such as hygiene items, safety supplies, and naloxone kits. This work is guided by compassion and respect, ensuring that individuals receive support in a way that preserves dignity and empowers them to seek further assistance when needed.
Community Events and Workshops:
The MPCPC regularly hosts and participates in community events and educational workshops that promote safety, wellness, and connection. These include initiatives such as the Naloxone Workshop, Mount Pleasant Acts of Kindness campaign, safety awareness sessions, and seasonal outreach events. Each event is designed to be welcoming, accessible, and informative, offering residents opportunities to learn practical skills, connect with their neighbours, and engage with local resources. Our events create spaces where education meets community building, strengthening the overall resilience of the neighbourhood.
